Hesperidin is a flavanone glycoside (flavonoid) (C28H34O15) found abundantly in citrus fruits.
Various studies reveal novel pharmaceutical properties, such as:
- Reduction in cholesterol and blood pressure.
- Reduction in bone density loss using large doses of the glucoside hesperidin.
- Protective effects against sepsis.
- Anti-inflammatory effects.
- As a sedative, possibly acting through adenosine receptors.
